Hello Everyone,

I'm looking for some hints about the most suitable way to change the default
hostname on compute node.

I'm currently using the 2.16.3 version of xCAT on top of rhel 7.9
On my lab I have the following conf regarding the network topic:

  * Management network (not routed) - used for compute registration and
installation
  * Public network (routed ) - network services (DNS, NTP , ...) and public
access

On compute nodes we have the following Nics , let say : eno1 => management net
(installnic) and eno2 => Public net
During the node registration the node name (binded to the @IP of eno1) will be
the default hostname, in my case node1-adm.
But what I want to do is to replace the default hostname (normally on the
management net) by using the @IP of the second NIC (eno2) on the public net
I would like to have something like that : node1.mydomain.lab.fr as the
hostname

I'm thinking to run a postscript file at the end of the node installation by
calling the relevant command (hostnamectl or modifying the /etc/hostname file).

The question is:

  * During the node registration, do we have a way to setup the hostname as
mentioned above, I mean that I would like to have the hostname binded to the
NIC on the public network?

Thanks in advance for any hints or direction I should take in order to achieve
this setup.

Best regards
