Just wanted to share with the community a time-saving piece of information..
We recently bought a number of PowerEdge R6525 with iDRAC9
iDRAC9 version:
----------------------
Device Type 15G Monolithic
Hardware Version 0.01
Firmware Version 5.00.20.00
BIOS Version
-----------------
2.5.6
That's what we had to change in the iDRAC9 GUI to make it play along with xCAT:
Configuration -> BIOS Settings -> Serial Communication -> Serial Communication
-> On with Console Redirection
iDRAC Settings -> Connectivity -> Serial Over Lan -> Enable Serial Over LAN ->
ENABLED (this will enable ipmitool -I lanplus. Without it only ipmitool -I open
works)
Configuration -> BIOS Settings -> Network Settings -> PXE Device1 -> ENABLED
(there are 4 devices there, and you need to have at least one of them enabled)
Configuration -> BIOS Settings -> Network Settings -> PXE Device1 Settings ->
Embedded NIC 1 PORT 1 Partition 1 ("Embedded NIC" is the onboard gigabit port.
There are two of them, and if you connect the second one, your selection should
be "Embedded NIC 2 PORT 1 Partition 1 " )
Hit Apply in every section where you make the change.
Once all Applied, hit "Apply And Reboot" or "At Next Reboot" at the bottom of
the page.

Hope this helps somebody
