The next official release date has not been finalized, but it will be before
the end of March.

My team has not been testing RHEL 9, but github user Obihörnchen has made many
significant contributions to improve the RHEL 9 support.
Thank you, Obihörnchen, for all of your contributions related to RHEL 9 and
other general improvements.
Based on feedback from Obihörnchen and Gilad, the state of RHEL 9 support is
good enough that we will claim beta support for RHEL 9 in the next release.
There may still be additional improvements needed for full support, however.

I would encourage anyone interested in RHEL 9 support to download the latest
xCAT development build and try out RHEL 9 in your test environment as soon as
possible. The current development builds are very stable based on our internal
testing and will allow anyone interested in RHEL 9 support to try it out and
provide additional fixes before the next official release.

Instructions on how to install development builds using either go-xcat or using
the xcat.org repositories directly can be found here:

I would like to second Jerrod’s statement regarding Confluent for EL9, if you
want to give it a try. As for xcat rhel9 support, we are also curious regarding
the plans for official support on the next release. We did made it work
(including

We did made it work (including stateless and statelite) and if there’s
interest, we can gather our notes and share.

Probably better to try it with latest xcat-dep after the merge of the two
commits below (which, honestly, took care of the hard parts of the porting, so
I assume some people on this list knows the topic better). I can find some time
and try it again.

One way or the other, we will have a detailed doc in few weeks that we plan to
share.

I've heard second hand some people at least rigging up EL9, but I didn't have
details. Ultimately they made it sound doable, but without details I'm unable
to be more helpful on that..

My team has done EL9 (RH, CentOS Stream, Alma, Rocky, Oracle) in confluent OS
deployment for anyone that cares.

Does anyone know when the next release will occur? Will the next release
support RHEL 9? I’m going to build a new cluster soon and would prefer to use
RHEL 9 if possible.
