Hi Matt,

Yes 2.18 was released but the announcement wasn't made yet because there is a
last minute issue with the ppc64le builds, which xCAT always supported. But
it's working for 2.18. A proper announcement will be made immediately after we
push the ppc64le packages.

Regarding the conserver issue, it was effectively replaced with 2.17 release a
long time ago. There's no support change for conserver or goconserver since
2.17. But I'm interested in the legacy components you mentioned that didn't
work well with goconserver. With xCAT 2.18 we fixed more than 100 issues and
added proper support not only for EL10 but for Ubuntu since the
debian-installer removal with 20.04, 22.04, 24.04 and the newest 26.04 release.

Can you file an issue about this incompatibility with goconserver? We want to
at least try fixing it.

Finally are you on 2.16? I didn't understand how exactly you managed to keep
conserver, since 2.17 required goconserver in the specfile.

Regards,

I didn't see any announcement here (or elsewhere) but it looks like xCAT 2.18.0
was released with RHEL 10 support back on June 22nd, per
https://github.com/xcat2/xcat-core/wiki/XCAT_2.18_Release_Notes? (Although I
see it still shows 2.18 in the xcat-core repo under "rc1" as
https://xcat.org/files/xcat/repos/yum/2.18/rc1/, per the release notes...) For
what it's worth, it would have been nice to have a formal announcement posted
at least to this list to let everyone know...

Per the release notes above, it sounds like only packages for RHEL 10 were made
available at release time. However, I'm seeing 2.18.0 updates showing up in the
xcat-core and xcat-dep repos for RHEL 9 as well now (as
2.18.0-snap202606291947)...is that expected? If so, should the release notes
above be updated to reflect this now?

Also, can someone confirm whether or not the legacy, deprecated conserver
"support" still exists in 2.18.0 (exactly as it did with 2.17), assuming we
already have it installed from previous releases? Or did support get fully
removed with this release (with goconserver truly being the only option left)?
We have some legacy components that still require the use of legacy conserver,
so just wanting to know what to expect if we update to 2.18.0. I know the
conserver package is no longer in the xcat-dep repos, but we still have it
installed from older versions we updated from and it's still been functional
with xCAT at least through 2.17...

Thanks.
