You should be able to download the installer from the developer downloads and keep the installer around in case you need it later.
I never use the App Store unless there's no choice, because it deletes the installer and if you have more than one Mac, you have to waste time downloading what you want more than once. Last time I checked (last week), the installer for 6.2.2 was about 2.95 GB.
