I'm using Google protobufs in my project. Xcode 6.1.1. Up until now, we've had
a manual step that invokes the protoc compiler, and generates files. It's
manual because it always runs, touching the output files, and forcing a huge
rebuild of the project.

I'm trying to use a build rule matching *.proto, but it's not being invoked.

The .proto files in my project don't belong to any target, and I can't seem to
add them, because the target membership control is disabled. What do I need to
do to be able to add them?

The docs, of course, are useless.

TIA,
