I’m curious if anyone has any information about Hockey’s future plans,
specifically w.r.t. their longevity. I’ve seen and heard various chatter about
this but can’t tell if it’s blind speculation based on MS hate or actual
information regarding their future plans.

I’m not invested in any way in Hockey (financially or otherwise) other than
being a user. That said, it would appear on the surface that MS is committed to
the Hockey service and I don’t see any indication that this will be a “failed
platform”. One could say MS has a huge interest in keeping it going, just from
the analytics data alone. Wouldn’t you love to have visibility into a large
percentage of iOS application deployment stats, what apps are being deployed,
how, when, why, etc. And get all the visibility into application crash
behavior, beta programs, etc. etc. You probably couldn’t buy this information
otherwise. One doesn’t have to be terribly imaginative to see the value to MS
of this service.

I’m not trying to start a flamewar here, and I would appreciate verifiable,
unbiased feedback on these questions. The changes to TestFlight have been
significantly disruptive to the iOS developer community and I encourage any
discussion on how to handle the transition to new services.
