OK, I try this and it seems to work. However, the git history is kind of unexpected.
When I click on the file in Xcode and show the git history in the Version editor, Xcode says ‘This file does not exist in the index.’ Selecting some previous revisions in the popup has mixed results. Sometimes I will see a previous revision, other times it won’t and I see an Xcode error “This file does not exist at the requested revision.” For some reason either git or Xcode doesn’t like renaming files like this so I can’t say I want to use this solution. Thanks for the info though. I try mucking around with git and see if I can shed light on what’s going on.
