I dunno. Without VoiceOver on, I’m not sure where the buttons are. (And I’ve 
been reluctant to try turning VoiceOver on because it has so many options I 
don’t know how to match the ones your using.)

An alternative a approach would be to drag from the object library into an 
empty space on the canvas, or to the empty space below the object sidebar. This 
will put a freestanding table in the storyboard and leave it selected. Then cut 
it to the clipboard, select the top level View object and paste. That got the 
new view in the right place for me.
