I recently ran across a weird error when uploading archives to the iTunes Store from Xcode. I don’t remember the error number but it would cause the upload to fail. I then used the Application Loader application and the upload succeeded, although it gave me a warning (symbol file too large). You might try out this app just to see if it works for you.
