I tried several ways but this is the one that worked the most, but still can't get the maps or turnpoints. I downloaded the app from the Android market to my smartphone (motorola driod), then removed the SD card and inserted it into a laptop where I download the maps (Northeast US) and airspace files to the XCsoar folder that had been created on the SD card when I downloaded the app. When running the running the program, I can't get any map or waypoints options to show, but I ca for the airspace and they function fine, displaying the appropriate airspace on a blank white screen. The altitude and ground speed functions work fine. Thanks for your hard work in this project, it is appreciated.
