I can confirm this... Here's how I can reproduce it like once out of five times on my HTC Desire HD: Have XCSoar in landscape mode. Hit the home button. Turn to portrait mode Pull down the tasklist. Tap on XCSoar. Here's a logcat of the event: D/XCSoar (17962): EGLConfig: red=5 green=6 blue=5 alpha=0 depth=24 stencil=8 E/XCSoar (17962): initGL error: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Make sure the SurfaceView or associated SurfaceHolder has a valid Surface E/XCSoar (17962): initGL error: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException E/libEGL (17962): call to OpenGL ES API with no current context (logged once per thread) I/DEBUG (17861): *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** I/DEBUG (17861): Build fingerprint: 'cingular_us/htc_ace/ace/ace:2.2.1/FRG83D/318736:user/release-keys' I/DEBUG (17861): pid: 17962, tid: 17971 >>> org.xcsoar <<< I/DEBUG (17861): thread: Thread-9 I/DEBUG (17861): signal 11 (SIGSEGV), fault addr 0000004f Let me know if you need more logcat output. During all this starting and turning, I also noticed that XCSoar would paint funny stuff if it happens to readjust the layout while a progress bar is active.
