I am trying to connect a Flarm to an Altair and I unfortunately don't seem to have much luck, I suspect something is wrong with the cable but I am running out of ideas. I simply do not get connection, no GPS signal and no Flarm data
I made sure the FLarm has GPS and Message enable (using flarm tool) Set up speed at 19200 both on Flarm (default) and on Altair Tried Straight through cable eg 1-1, 2-2, 3-3, 4-4, 5-5, 6-6, 7-7, 8-8 Tried crossing Tx/Rx 1-1,2-2,3-4,4-3,5-5,6-6,7-7,8-8 Tried both RJ-45 connectors on flarm Tried both X4 and X5 connectors on Altair The Altair was running XCSoar v5.1, now 6.21, doesn't work with either The port on the Altair must be working as if I connect a Cambridge 302 using DB9/RJ45 cable it works fine Also to make it more confusing it seems that Pin 1 from Flarm corresponds to Pin 8 from Altair doco, ie: Altair says Pin 1 is GND while flarm says pin 8 is GND. Obviously I swapped the pins 1/8, 2/7, 3/6 and so on to not send the +12V to GND It would be great if someone can send me the pinout for a cable to connect Flarm/Altair or what is often called a Stantard IGC RJ-45 cable, or any other suggestions.
