Dell Streak: Android 2.3.3 (Gingerbread)
XCSoar: 6.2.1
I built the IOIO box pictured here:
https://picasaweb.google.com/baer.bernie/IOIOForCAI302 same as Rob's but
powered from CAI 302,
and when I plug it into my CAI 302 and Dell Streak I see the red LED on the
IOIO board light up so it is getting power correctly. On the Streak, I check
for charging and it is flashing between 'Discharging' and ' Charging from USB'
so that looks good (well, OK) also. The 302 is supposed to output 5 V but I'm
measuring 4.5V.
However, there is no GPS connection, and changing MacReady etc does not change
anything on the 302. Attempting to download a log file from the 302, XCSoar
says not connected.
So I can run using aircraft battery OK (via the 302 regulator) and internal GPS
but running this way will get no flight data from the 302.
It has been suggested that I modify my cable to swap pins 2 & 3 on the DB9. I
am using a straight through cable pin2->2 and pin3->3. Looking at the 302 doco
it says:
3 Yellow Data transfer from connected device to 302
2 Green Data transfer from 302 to connected device
6, 8 Red +5 volt power from 302 to connected device; fuse-limited to 0.9 Amp
5 Black Ground for both logic and power
and RS232 info like this: http://pinouts.ws/db9-rs232-pinout.html
say Pin 2 RX (Receive data)
and Pin 3 Tx (Transmit data)
so to me it seems that my current cable should work. The problem appears to be
with the RS232 board, not the IOIO board as XCSoar seems to recognise the IOIO
board.
Any suggestions are welcome! Also any suggestions as to how I can bench test
this setup, as I dont have access to the aircraft readily. If I power the board
with an external 12V battery, can I send serial data from an emulator or such
to test? I might have to remove the link that connects the RS232 board V+ to
pin 8 I guess.
Thanks, Bernie.
