Hi Chad I am only a recent Altair owner, but I can't get any of the sourceforge 5.x series to work properly with menu buttons. I always end up with buttons for the main buttons (nav, etc) working, and the other set not. So I can't get into settings to check anything. I have tried Portrait vs Landscape versions, and changing the settings, no luck.
However, the Triadis 5.x series downloads and works fine for me, and I can go back from 6.2.x back to 5.2.x from Triadis no worries. Triadis has also been working on a firmware which allows you to run XCSoar.exe from the root of a USB key. This is how I now run XCSoar 6.2.x - thus I leave the default 5.x version installed for backwards compatibility, and to access things like the Vega settings (e.g .to update the accelerometer which is not currently supported in 6.x) - but just plug in a USB key to run newer versions. It also means I can swap USB keys to try others. Good luck.
