I don't know if this has been mentioned previously, but one of the problems
with an outlanding photo/database/whatever is seasonality - what's landable in
Spring may not be landable in Summer. Also, some farm strips are unsuitable
e.g. our local Microlight strip is only 18 metres wide. The people are glider
friendly but may less so once someone has groundlooped a Nimbus into the
adjoining crop.

Not open license and available for the Alps only, but exactly the kind of
information one is looking for when landing on a field:

I don´t think any automatically generated sat images would come close.
With a more general approach of linking waypoints to pictures other
interesting options might be possible, maybe a waypoint type "Webcam" linked
to live pictures downloaded with a smartphone in flight?
