Look here: http://www.gregorie.org/gliding/pna/xcsoar.html
That page contains all I know about the various data files you'll need.
This says what formats are acceptable to XCSoar, where to get them from
and and where to put the files on the SD card.

map: use an .XCM file from the XCSoar site
turnpoints: either CAI/Winpilot or SeeYou .CUP files will work
airspace: must be OpenAir format
polars: Winpilot (.plr) format - needed only if there isn't a
                built-in polar for your glider.

Correct. They go in a directory called XCSoarData, which you create in
the root of the SD card.

Last but not least, the files must be listed on the first page of the
System Configuration or they will be ignored.
