One reason that +x was required was that .desktop files can have any
icon (eg a "html document") but then can be "executed"
I'm aware of that. I wonder what happened to my suggestion that .desktop
files with Exec lines can't have icons under the mimetypes category?
Wouldn't that solve the problem in a more direct way, with a much more
minimal loss of backwards compatibility?
