"Red circle with X in it" where X is a random pictograph does not tend to be the best metaphor for things, especially when it's a real world object you're drawing an icon for. As for the letters for types, we also do not wish to promote that, as it is VERY difficult to do labels like that at smaller sizes (16x16), and it basically removes the purpose of the icon. If you think the label belongs on the icon, then the icon probably doesn't belong, and you should be reading the text label next to it anyway. In this case, it is probably simple enough to have a generic flash icon, and then the text label describing the actual device, next to it in the UI. For the specific types, one can just draw the real world objects. For the generic type, though, we probably need something that closely resembles the real world specific objects, but isn't simply any of them. It's really up to the themes themselves at that point though. For Tango and GNOME, we will probably do something similar to what I just suggested. -- dobey _______________________________________________ xdg mailing list [email protected] http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/xdg
