Yippie, Xdg-utils 1.0 beta2 is released! Head over to http://portland.freedesktop.org/download/xdg-utils-1.0beta2.tgz to play with this puppie.
Below you will find a list of the changes since Beta1. By far the most exciting is the addition of the Test Suite thanks to the hard work of Tom Whipple. Great job Tom! I would like to encourage everyone to take a few minutes to run the test suite on every distribution that you have lying around and submit the results to http://portland.freedesktop.org/testreport.html You will also find a link there that lists the test reports submitted so far. I would like to remind everyone of the conference call (see below) that is scheduled for Thursday, I would like to go over the beta and the test suite, so if you are going to call in (you should) please take a look at the beta and the test suite before that time. Enjoy, Waldo --- http://portland.freedesktop.org/wiki/XdgUtilsBeta2Changes Interface Changes in Xdg-Utils Beta 2: * Removed xdg-su for 1.0 release * Added Test Suite * Added XDG_UTILS_DEBUG_LEVEL variable for easy debugging * Replaced --vendor option with --novendor: Instead of optionally adding a vendor prefix the tools now check by default whether the user has included a proper prefix. The check can be disabled with --novendor. * Replaced the mandatory --user/--system options with an optional --mode option. The default is now to install system wide when called as root and to install for the current user only when called as non-root. * Added 'xdg-mime default' to change the default handler for a mimetype * Changed 'xdg-mime query default' to take a mimetype as argument instead of a file Implementation Changes * all: Check existence and permissions of input files * all: Don't complain if kde-config is missing * xdg-screensaver: Add Gnome support, store tracking file in /tmp on systems that support 'mv -T' * xdg-open: Ignore exit code from kfmclient, it's broken in KDE <= 3.4 * xdg-mime: Don't install in KDE-specific locations if KDE is not installed * xdg-mime: Run kbuildsycoca after installing mimetypes as user under KDE * xdg-email: Fix --attach to handle relative paths --- Portland - DTL Technical Workgroup conference call Date: Thursday, 03 August 2006 Time: 07:00am PT, 10:00am ET, 16:00 Paris, 10:00pm PRC Event Description: DTL Technical call on "Portland": Tollfree: 1-800-211-0633 Toll: 1-719-867-0485 Passcode: 942698 Agenda: Portland - xdg-utils 1.0 - xdg-utils test suite - Portland 2.0: DAPI Visit http://portland.freedesktop.org for the latest information --- Waldo Bastian Linux Client Architect - Client Linux Foundation Technology Channel Platform Solutions Group Intel Corporation - http://www.intel.com/go/linux OSDL DTL Tech Board Chairman _______________________________________________ xdg mailing list [email protected] http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/xdg
