This batch included bugs, that were reported before 2012-06, had a clean solution or were already discussed on XDG list. There is still many things to rethink. Note that some changes had a surprising political aspect (like adding Spirituality). If somebody is willing to help in the review, here is a HOWTO for seamless changes. 0. Report a problem with Categories for particular software. Please consider, that adding unapproved Categories to your desktop file makes no sense, until you are the author of the desktop environment (and if you are, use of "X-Foo" is recommended). 1. Pick a problem (in Bugzilla or XDG list). 2. Propose a solution. 3. Write a RFC to XDG list, wait a bit and incorporate feedback. 4. git clone git://anongit.freedesktop.org/xdg/xdg-specs 5. Submit a patch to Bugzilla 6. Wait for Vincent and for web page update. 7. Create patch (or at least report changes) to: - desktop-file-utils (Vincent should to it himself otherwise) - gnome-menus - ... 8. Inform XDG list. Optionally inform distributors (e. g. [email protected]) 9. Report bug or fix desktop file of the software that initiated the discussion. The Desktop Menu Specification is a bit specific. Changes there have no effect until major desktop environments and distros incorporate them to their menu systems. -- Best Regards / S pozdravem, Stanislav Brabec software developer --------------------------------------------------------------------- SUSE LINUX, s. r. o. e-mail: [email protected] Lihovarská 1060/12 tel: +49 911 7405384547 190 00 Praha 9 fax: +420 284 028 951 Czech Republic http://www.suse.cz/ _______________________________________________ xdg mailing list [email protected] http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/xdg
