Your VCS (hg?) repository appears to contain two versions in different markup languages, neither of which matches how that spec is currently maintained (its wiki page claims it's Docbook XML in CVS, but I think the reality might be Docbook XML in the git repo summarized at <http://cgit.freedesktop.org/xdg/xdg-specs/>). Are they in sync? Do they both contain all your proposed changes? Regardless of whether it's a good idea to use a lighter-weight markup language than Docbook XML, changing the markup language is orthogonal to changing the content, and doing both at the same time makes it much more difficult to review changes.
