Never mind, I just spotted what I'd got wrong - "param" instead of "paramName". Now all we need is the xtags stuff integrating, so it could have just told me "unknown parameter 'param'" in the first place...
Oh yes, it still throws the exception with paramnum=0 (paramnum="0" is okay now).
