This is weird - I did exactly the same (clean everything and build xjavadoc) on my home machine, and I don't get the 30 failures. However, instead there are 2 errors (not failures) in xjavadoc.XJavaDocTest (stack traces below).
The only difference I can see is that I'm using JDK 1.4.0 at home, and 1.3.1_03 at work...
