Initial Comment: I think XDoclet is a wonderful tool and can be better without the XML'ish of templates. I have nothing against XML but if xdoclet use as template engine either Velocity http://jakarta.apache.org/velocity/) or Webmacro (http://www.webmacro.org), templates are more readable and easy to write.
