What do you mean by "compatible with"?  So far as I know, it has no problems 
parsing source files for JDK 1.4 (it's the new syntax introduced in 1.5 that it 
can't understand).  And so long as it can parse the source syntax, the J2EE 
version that the classes being parsed were written for is irrelevant - it's up 
to xdoclet (or whatever application is calling xjavadoc) to do something with 
the parser output, and whether that supports J2EE 1.4 is nothing to do with 
xjavadoc...
