It wasn't actually a problem. We have others using Xdoclet internally for Hibernate with Ant. I was using some of their code as examples, but I realized after a few hours of trying to get it to work that they are using Xdoclet 1, and I am using Xdoclet2. I had to change from using hibernate.id to hibernate.composite-id.
