Because you see the word "EJB" in both projects docs? There is *no* overlapping functionality. Should be pretty clear from the document that you sent a link to. These ant tasks are either about *packaging* or *deploying* J2EE components to various containers, or *invoking* proprietary container tools (such as weblogic.ejbc and weblogic.deploy). XDoclet is a code generator. It can generate code. Nothing more. Never ever (I hope). This means (for example) that XDoclet will never be able to create e.g. an EJB jar file. Good luck with EJB!
