Limitation: This patch currently does not handle OR mapped fields, and will only work for primitive CMP fields, for anything else, the orion.persistence mechanism still needs to be used. It's probably best to wait for orion 1.6.1 before adding in full support for the O/R stuff.

Yes, this is the right thing to do. Take a look at the jbosscmp-jdbc_xml.xdt template to see how you can do this with minimum effort.
