Have you tried including the maximum heap size? Edit
${NETBEANS}/bin/ide.cfg and increase the -J-Xmx96m parameter to, say,
-J-Xmx128m and see if that makes any difference. Other than that, I don't
know what else you could try - I haven't bothered upgrading my copy of
Netbeans' Ant stuff to Ant 1.5 yet (I assume you have, though? The Ant
support it comes with is version 1.4.1). I generally just edit things in
it then build from the command line.
