I can't remember this has ever been discussed. Personally I don't think the
examples need licensing rules as strict as the code itself, so I think you
can include @tagged sources (whether they are your own or from XDoclet's
examples) without reproducing the license at all.

If you intend to reproduce part's of the XDoclet code, you must reproduce
the license.

Don't have too much confidence in the examples. They're merely used as a
poor test suite in the following way:
1) Change some code in xdoclet
2) Change the example code
3) Run XDoclet
4) Manually verify that the generated code looks as "expected"

What's "expected" is entirely in the developer's brain, and is not
formalised anywhere. There are no expected result files.
And more importantly, we don't have any routines to actually deploy and run
the sample+generated code anywhere.

My point is that it's very likely that your own code will be more correct
than what you find in the examples.
If you write your own code, you're also sure you won't have to worry about
licensing issues.
(But I don't think you have to worry about them anyway).
