I just tried out 1.5.2 myself in case that was it (I was still using 1.5.1), but it still worked fine for me with that. I'm fast running out of ideas; my gut feeling is it's got to be a classpath problem, but I've no idea what. Do you have a global classpath environment variable set? Also, you mentioned before the commons logging jar wasn't there, so you copied that over. What about commons-collections-2.0.jar? Is that there? If it's neither of those, can you get your build script to echo the classpathref contents just before it does the taskdef, and post the output? That way we can see exactly what jars it's finding.
