Speaking of committers and the like, I'd like to take this oppurtunity to nag (again) about my patch for the orion templates. Orion 2.0 was released tonight and it'd be nice if my patches would be committed for fully 2.0 support ;)

Alex,

I suggest that you take a look at Matt Raible's example application,
struts-resume. He has a patched <strutsform> tag that does what you are
looking for. The bad news is that there is some difficulty in getting this
patch accepted by the Xdoclet committers.

Let me just clarify that "bad news" a bit. I'm perfectly fine with Matt's patch to open up the generation of form beans from POJO's. As a committer I feel a bit responsible here, but also like to be personally pragmatic about it. Its touching something in the EJB space that I really don't want to be responsible for and would not want to deal with any side-effects of such interactions.

If an EJB-savvy committer wanted to commit it, then I'm perfectly ok with it.

Perhaps Matt's patch can be refactored into a standalone subtask for the apache module - I'd be happy to commit something like that. It would mean some duplication though, which would not be a good thing generally speaking.

Here's the link: http://www.raibledesigns.com/downloads/index.html

We have used a lot from Matt's excellent, very full featured web
application. From generating the form beans, its not much of a leap to also
generate some basic JSp forms. Once you try your own XDT template you'll
see.

Ah, generating JSP's.... wonder where Matt got that from?! ;)

I have also written up the form bean -> JSP process for a JavaPro article which is slated for a summer issue (such a shame it takes so long, my apologies).
