As I posted earlier, I was in error. Our session beans are indeed tagged "Stateless." Luckily, Dos found the problem. :)

Valid values for the type parameter for session beans, as listed in the xtags.xml, are "Stateless" and "Stateful". The default is "Stateless". For entity beans, the possible values are "BMP" and "CMP". If you're using type="Session" and it works, it's purely by luck and may break in the future if/when the validation gets tightened up.
