Can someone expand upon the meaning of the various ejb.transaction
types? I understand what they mean, but am unsure where each of the
types applies. The online documentation doesn't expand upon any of
them.
For instance, what's the difference between "Required" & "Mandatory"?
In a literal sense, these would seem to be one-and-the-same, but there
must be a difference since they are both listed.
You should take a look at chapter 17 of the EJB spec. I wish I could
give you more than a RTFM, but theres a lot of information in there
and I'm not sure which parts to include.
There's a piece that describes what all of the words mean, and also
some tables with examples, like:
"if session bean with transaction A
invokes an entity bean with 'Required' transaction type,
it will use transaction A also",
etc.
Hope this helps.
