I forgot to mention that after calling rt_timer_set_mode(125000) a task that does nothing but an outb and a rt_task_wait_period(0); will also trigger the watchdog (when set to 1 second) as a runaway thread even though the timing is correct. I never had a problem with this timing in RTAI. The system does seem to lock up.
