XML for IPC

Hi,   I must apologise first if this question is irrelevant to this mailing list.   I am curious if it make sense or does anyone use XML for Inter-process communication ? I am thinking of using XML to describe the messenging structure between different applications on a single machine.   Please advice.   Thank you.   Regards, Lai
