has anyone tried modifying the code for "on the way in" validation?

i read the slides from the Xerces2 presentation, and was pleased to
see support for this kind of validation.  i tried very briefly to hack
the code a bit to do this (so that the line# of an error reported
would more frequently match the actual line which had a problem in
it), but failed miserably.  has anyone been a bit more persistent? =)
