As far as I know, no one has done a proper canonicalizer for Xerces. I think
it would be well worth doing, as it's important to XML-Signature, and
XML-Signature looks like an important part of making the exchange of XML
documents safe and reliable. (XML-Sig makes it possible to test that a
document originated from a trusted party and has not been modified in any
significant way by a third party.) I think canonicalization could be treated
as a special case of serialization (another popular request). Xerces-J has a
serializer that I understand could be ported.

That said, I doubt either canonicalization or serialization is even on the
radar screen of the core implementation group. They've got their hands full
with basic XML functionality, like schema. Like almost everyone else, I too
have my hands full, but maybe there's someone out there with time and
interest...?

Subject: Canonical XML

I came across another reference to the canonical form of an
XML document in reference to digital signatures.

I'm looking for an implementation in C++ with Xerces. Can
anyone tell me where to find it?
