according to the FAQ "Distributing Xerces C++/I am getting a tar
checksum error on Solaris. What's the problem?" ;
i faced the problem too by using the hyperlink 'xerces-c1_5_1-SolCC_tar.tar.gz'.
the reason:
While choosing 'Save to disk' on my browser, the default target
name was 'xerces-c1_5_1-SolCC_tar.tar' !?!,
the '.gz' was missed! so tar gave me the same message.
i simply renamed it again to 'xerces-c1_5_1-SolCC_tar.tar.gz'
and the problem was solved.
just tought other people might have the same case.
i was using Netscape 4.51 under WindowsNT
