All you need do is is go to Unix System Services, USS.   From TSO this 
command is ishell i think.  Checkout all of the i* commands.   This 
environment needs to be set up by your system administrator.    At a IBM 
session at a Share conference they told us that Unix is the OS/390 and 
OS/390 is Unix.  One is not a subset of the other. Hard to accept for 
mainframers.

Once you are in Unix use what ever compiler you want.
