It may surprise you, but there are many people for whom the distinction
between free software (in the GNU sense) and closed, proprietary software
is more important than a technical feature list.

If you think about it for a moment you will realize that many free
software projects would never have made it without such people. In the
early stages a free software project can usually not compete with
proprietary products on features. It is people who value their freedom
that keep up the momentum. Having said this, there are certainly also many
people like you who either don't understand or don't value this kind of
freedom.
