How to flush a document?

Hi,

I�m writting DOMDocuments with a multithreaded application. Sometimes, after killing a 
thread, the document has not been written yet and then stays with 0 bytes size.
Do you know any procedure to flush the document to disk, that I can call before 
killing the thread?
