Bug 1148 (http://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/XERCESC-1148) includes a patch to make a precursor to Xerces 2.5.0 build under UnixWare 7.1.1. I don't know if the patch got applied, or if 2.6.0 builds as-is, but I suspect not, since the bug is still open. If that's the case, you could try applying the patch to the 2.6.0 source. There are not a lot of changes, and they look pretty low-level, so it shouldn't be difficult even if you have to apply some or all of them manually.
