Our current plan is to drop support for Mac OS prior to Mac OS X 10.1. This means there will be no support for Mac OS 8 or 9 systems, running either natively or under the "Classic" environment. Although I don't have any current plans to break Mac OS X 10.0 (i.e., "prior to 10.1"), I'm leaving that as an option.
My sense is that this will not be a big barrier to consumers of Xerces, but wanted to solicit feedback prior to planning for this change. Current xerces users who need to support those environments, can of course continue using the current xerces 2.x line with no changes--they just won't be able to migrate to 3.x.
