Hi Gareth. This is certainly possible, and just a matter of the time to get it done.
We should be able to add an option:
--with-pathan=/path/to/pathan
or (maybe)
--with-xalan=/...
To our configure script. I already have support for some other external software:
--with-curl (enables use of the libcurl netaccessor, yet to be written ... ;)
--with-libwww (enables use of the libwww netaccessor)
