Hi,

Thats a question for James. You out there James?

Out here I am. A first cut at a new autotools based configure/make/make install build system is complete, and awaiting the switch to svn, and a branch off for 3.0, for a commit. Much additional work is still required to refactor some of the per-platform support, and to write autoconf rules to switch it on and off.

I don't know where the switch to svn sits. My guess is that it could happen in the next week, though I haven't heard anything from Jason or infrastructure. Once that's done, we'll branch the trunk and begin work on the 3.x features, of which the new build infrastructure and per-platform refactoring is a big one.

My guess is that we might have a buildable, though unstable, 3.x branch in a month or two. I'm guessing it's going to take us six months to get a stable release out.

Did that help or hurt? ;)
