As a non-committer my vote probably doesn't have any meaning, but someone
additional working on datatype validation sounds like a very good thing.  

So a +1 for me with one condition (or strong suggestion), I'd really
recommend that he read at least the database sections of the schema help
files that I announced on xml-dev and other places yesterday.   The help
files has a substantially amount of commentary on datatypes and other issues
that he (and others working on xml schema structures or datatypes) may find
informative.  If you can't read HTMLHelp, I can email zip files of the raw
HTML on request.

A HTMLHelp file for the 17 Dec W3C XML Schema Working Draft is now available
for free download from AEA Technology - Engineering Software site at
http://www.software.aeat.com/xml/resources.htm.  This help file is being
provided to assist the XML community in understanding and refining XML
Schema as it approaches recommendation status.  The help file is extensively
crosslinked and indexed, supports full text search, has content model
