There's dirk's thing that was mentioned previously.
I'd like to solve the archiving problem en masse rather than one project
at a time. I'm completely unhappy with the performance/management aspects
of all web-based mail archive systems I've seen - hypermail, hypermail2,
and mhonarc. If someone wants to mention a new one to me, I'm all ears.
The best suggestion I've heard is a web front-end to a read-only IMAP
based system, but haven't looked into any of them. I also have a
half-prototyped solution involving storing messages in mbox format and
keeping an index of pointers and lookup info on message
authors/subjects/etc, and building a web-based interface on top of that.
If anyone is looking for a good project and wants to pick this up, feel
free.
