Xerces-C 1.0.1 sources and binaries are now available for download.
Sources are available as a 'Zip' and a 'tar.gz' archive from
    http://xml.apache.org/dist

Binaries are published for only Win32 and Redhat Linux 6.0.

Xerces-C binaries:

  - use the inmemory message loader under Linux and the Win32 native
    message loader under Windows NT.

  - do not use ICU for transcoding and hence can parse files
only in the following encodings: UTF8, ASCII, UTF16 and UCS4.

Xerces-C 1.0.1 sources have been used as the source code base for
XML4C 3.0.1, which has been tested under:
   Redhat Linux 6.0, Windows NT 4.0 SP5, AIX 4.1.5, Solaris 2.6,
HPUX 10.20 (both CC and aCC), and HPUX 11.0 (both CC and aCC).

XML4C binaries are available for download from
   http://www.alphaworks.ibm.com/tech/xml4c

NOTE: XML4C binaries use ICU (IBM Classes for Unicode) for transcoding
support and hence can parse input files in over 100 different
      encodings.
